Describe how semiconductor diode used as Half wave rectifier ?
Rectifier :- The device which is used to conduct alternating current ( AC ) into Different current (DC ) is called Rectifier.
Half wave Rectifier :-
*** In a Half wave rectifier a single diode is used.
**** The AC from the Secondary of the transformed is applied to the diode and load resistance RL Series.
*** During positive Half cycle the diode is forward biased and current flowed the diode and resistance.
*** During negative half cycle diode is reverse biased and current doesn't flows through the diode.
*** It means current flows during positive Half cycle only and it is observed at load resistance R2.
Efficiency :- ( η )
The ratio of out put power to input power is called Efficiency of the rectifier.
Efficiency ( η )= Pout/pin
(n=new)
n = 0.406 RL/RL + rf
rf = forward dynamic resistance of diode
n = 40.6 RL/RL + rf
For ideal diode rf=0
n = 40.6 RL /RL + rf
n=40.6%
