What are "n" types and "p" types semiconductors? How is a semiconductors Junction formed?
Ans : "n" type semiconductors :-
When a pentavalent impurities N,P,AS,Sb are dropped pure semiconductors. The Semi are called " n " type semiconductors.
" p " type semiconductors :
When a trivalent impurities B,Al,Ga,In,Ta are dropped with pure semiconductor is called " P" type semiconductors.
P-n Junction :-
The silicon strits of is dropped with pentavalent impurity and remaining of dropped with trivalent impurities is called P-n Diode (or) and 1n type the combination of 1p type semiconductor and 1n type semiconductor is called P-n Diode the plane separating the either "n" side or "p" side.
Middle layer is called Dilation Layer.
In p type semiconductor majority charge carrier are holes these are diffuse over to n type semiconductor and combines electrons in it.
Similarly in n type semiconductor majority charge carrier are electrons these are diffuse over p-type semiconductors and combines holes in it.
Negative ions are left over in " p "-type semiconductors similarly and positive ions or left over in " n " type semiconductors.
At the middle this answer cancel with each other and one layer is formed is called " depletion layer ". Thickness is 1mm-1mm.
The depletion layer stops further movement of of holes and from either side of the junction.
The potential difference is dropped at the junction is called potential brier.
